SESSION 1: Understanding Virtual Currency and the Impact on your BSA Program
Monday, August 26, 2024
On December 18, 2020, FinCEN released a notice of proposed rule-making (the “NPRM”) setting forth proposed regulations to expand the U.S. anti-money laundering rules on virtual currency. Financial institutions sometimes struggle with how to bank clients that provide virtual asset services. The webinar reviews the different types of virtual currency clients, documentation required to obtain at account opening and effective methods for monitoring these clients.

This webinar will also help attendees who don’t wish to bank virtual currency service providers to know how to identify these types of clients at account opening and through transactional activity monitoring. Learn how to implement the new rules into your BSA program and common “red flags” of possible suspicious activity in virtual currency.
